A lesson from the ”Poor toad”

A lesson from the ”Poor toad”

Did they say you have no limits? MYTH!

Dipping your face in water is not the reason why you would drown, but how long you keep your head immersed!

The toad, just like any other animal is a prey and a predator. It has a way of intimidating and defending itself against its predators.

Growing up, I always wondered why toads got crushed by cars. Before I thought to myself, maybe they neither hear nor see; but no! On the contrary.

Toads often come out at dusk, and especially after a light downpour to hunt insects for food. Out of curiosity, I often took time to watch them as they do their hunting in the grasses by the roadside. From time to time they hop across, to the other side of the road.

So, why won’t they escape from on-coming cars? I pondered!

Nope, they do! While they hop across the road, they do avoid being crushed by on-coming vehicles but there is something that struck me in their attitudes towards fast-approaching cars.

The toad would bulge its back as a means of intimidation, and if touched, it secretes a slimy liquid as a means to defend itself and deter aggressors.

That approach works within the limits of the toad’s and the aggressor’s capacities. Unfortunately, it hardly ever has the time to secrete its venom for defence, when faced with a fast-approaching vehicle.

It bulges its back, but gets crushed even before it can secrete its venom.

NO LIMITS is a Myth!

As mere humans, as mere mortals, we are limited in every walk of life!

Don’t get me wrong.

You will never improve in your life endeavours if you limit yourself within the boundaries of your comfort zone. FACT!

Don’t hide behind the pretext of limits to limit yourself! Your limits are defined within the limits of your unique context!

It’s not because someone did it, that you should think you CAN. If they did it, that’s them, not you!

It’s not because someone failed that you should think you CAN’T! If they failed, that’s them, not you!

But you can always learn from others’ experience, then contextualize!

Don’t let FEAR hold you from exploring and exploiting your potentials. You have to push across the ”orange lines” (flexible boundaries) in order to expand your horizon, but as you expand, you have to watchout for the ”red lines too” (rigid limits).

Don’t be cynical either, to think that you can achieve anything and everything in life. No one ever did that in their life time. We can only achieve within the framework of our ability and life purpose.

Nothing humanly possible expands infinitely. Beyond your limits is the BREAKING POINT. (Copy that and sink it into your cerebrum!)

LIMIT is no issue, but ignorance of its existence, denial to acknowledge its existence and ignorance of the signs of LIMITS are major threats to human life.

The toad, in braving the impact and weight of on-coming vehicles, is simply because it failed to measure the gravity of the threat and its capacity to face it.

Push for expansion and growth, don’t be limited by flexible boundaries but dare not the rigid limits!
